I am Kata Bán painter. I live and work in Győr, Hungary.

My drawing teacher was Ildikó Karsai, a graphic artist. When I was in school, I won a prize in a drawing competition run by UNICEF on the equality of people of colour and white people around the world. Later I was the head of the school's art department for 4 years.

After vocational school, I was lured into banking and worked in that field until 2019.

I started painting again in 2019, self-taught and constantly improving myself, mostly with the help of the internet, online courses and my own experience.

Over the past 5 years, I have completed nearly 500 paintings, 80-90% of which were commissioned.

In addition to Hungary, I have originals in Ireland, Germany, Austria, Los Angeles, California and Mexico, all in private hands. Several collectors have bought works from me, but there are collectors who have bought and ordered more than 100 original paintings from me.

In 2021, I was asked to paint the cover of a book. The title of the book is Just For You. It is about autism and its treatment from the perspective of a mother.

In 2023 I opened my first gallery in Győr, in a tiny room of a local restaurant in Apáca street, overlooking the street.In 2025 I managed to move to a bigger, more spacious, independent gallery, which has a large window and more than 55 sqm of space for art and exhibitions. It functions as a true ART-GALLERY.

In 2025, I participated in an invitation-only art camp at Öttevényi Földváry Castle, where all expenses were paid by the castle owner and only the most renowned contemporary artists were allowed to participate. Some of the paintings made there were donated to charity, along with 15 other contemporary artists who painted there. After several national exhibitions, the paintings will be sold at auction in October 2025.

My works are done by hand, in oil or acrylic, with a brush, in the traditional way. All works are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a unique serial number.

I also create realistic, surreal and abstract images.

I'm very interested in light and shadow, different structures and 3D.

It's important to me that my images convey as much as possible the tangible reality, as if they were stepping off the canvas, the inner emotions that a photograph can never do. A painting shows a different face at different times of the day, evokes emotions and is treasured from generation to generation.

I still paint to order, but it is necessary to indicate the request much in advance so that the painting can be completed in time. I also periodically hold solo exhibitions of my work in my own gallery.

My aim is to show the world as I see it through my paintings. The glow of the people, the sparkle of the raindrop, the sunlight shining out from behind the clouds, bringing happiness and beauty to our world, the rainbow in the drops of water left behind, and to show how beautiful everything is, so that many people will see it and more will preserve it, the wonder of the world we live in.
